RETAIL STORE MANAGER
Full Time Employee: 34-40 hrs per week • $25/hr starting
Benefits: Health Care, PTO (after 90 days), etc.
Position Summary: ''The non-profit IndigenousAF (IAF Inc.) seeks a cultural arts Retail Store Manager to join our team in Las Vegas, Nevada. The individual hired for this full-time, on-site position will lead efforts for setting up and running day-to-day operations of the IndigenousAF store. The retail store will be established in the downtown 18b Las Vegas Arts District and is set to open in Spring 2026 (Date TBD). The manager will maintain an excellent level of customer service, personal presentation, and professional standards within a store that specializes in Native American arts, crafts, and merchandise. This position also requires the manager to build business relationships with Indigenous artists, local artists in the community, and IAF personnel. The retail store is to be fully integrated with the mission and vision of the non-profit IAF Inc. as well as Nuwu Art’s second space, Wai Gallery, which will operate side-by-side with IndigenousAF in the same building.
The Retail Store Manager will be responsible for training, scheduling, and retaining Retail Associates (see below). They will also assist visitors with merchandise purchases, participate in IAF programming, and will serve visitors as they view fine art on display. Other responsibilities include sourcing distributors, purchasing merchandise, inventory control (physical and online), working the front desk, tracking and generating income reports, and maintaining industry standards in all aspects of retail operations. Maintaining ethical standards and a positive attitude is a must while managing the shop, staff, interns and volunteers. The Retail Store Manager reports to the IAF Board of Directors (BOD).
Qualifications, Experience, Skills and Abilities:
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; associates degree or some college preferred.
Experience: The ideal candidate will have retail and/or related experience, excellent organizational, management, and computer skills, minimum of 3 years of retail experience including 1 year supervising the work of others in management, merchandising, purchasing, and promotion.
- Proven experience in store management, operations, and merchandising
- Excellent people skills required for customer service, employees, client base, artists, and artisan vendors
- Ability to work on-site, including weekends and certain holidays, as required in the retail industry
- Punctual, dependable, and professional - a critical thinker who can solve problems in real time and a self-starter who works proactively and can prioritize workflows
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills and a goal-driven mindset
- Able to delegate tasks to staff and cares about personal and professional development and growth of other employees
- Have an understanding of Native Arts and culture(s) and the Indian Arts & Crafts Act of 1990, or willing to learn
- Enthusiasm and a commitment to the mission and vision of the IAF non-profit
- Must be community-minded when leading the team/staff and have solid communication skills
- Maintaining positivity, interacting courteously and respectfully with both internally within the IAF organization and externally with customs and others
- Presents professionalism to co-workers, visitors, customers, and the public
- Motivated, empathetic, and trustworthy
- An ability to foster trust and keep certain information confidential
- Computer skills using Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, etc.), Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc), or ability to learn
- Any additional skills that strengthen customer service, develop staff, and retain client base

RETAIL SALES ASSOCIATE(S)
Part Time Employee: 20-30 hours/week • $15/hr

Retail Sales Associates are responsible for a high level of sales and guest service at the IndigenousAF retail store. IAF Retail Sales Associates are the first point of contact with our guests. Job duties include, but are not limited to: greeting, selling, store housekeeping and retail efficiency when dealing with large volumes of guests. Associates in this position will also support fine art sales inside the gallery. Reports to Retail Store Manager.
Education + Experience
- High School Graduate or equivalent.
- 2 years of previous retail, sales, and/or customer service experience.
General Requirements

- Excellent Communication Skills
- Cash handling experience
- Competent in general principles of mathematics and computer literacy
- Ability to effectively communicate using the English language (Spanish, etc. a plus)

- Ability to react quickly and correctly in a fast-paced environment.
- Team player attitude and is comfortable working with a diverse population.
- Take a proactive approach to folding, re-organizing, cleaning, re-stocking, and other retail housekeeping duties
- Ability to handle and sell high value art in a professional manner.
- Availability to work flexible schedules including day/evening shifts, weekends and holidays as required by the needs of the business.
- Regular attendance in accordance with the retail attendance policy.
- Someone who is focused, punctual, dependable, and trustworthy
- Some level of understanding and knowledge of fine art and preferably Native Arts
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
- Work successfully with a diverse team and guests
Physical Demands
- Must be able to lift and carry 40 pounds while using the appropriate lifting techniques and following all safety rules
- Prolonged walking, standing, and climbing ladders
